Emma Rose is a fine art photographer with a background in journalism and theatre. Hailing from Perth in Western Australia, Emma moved to Melbourne five years ago. Her work has been significantly influenced by the city’s distinct brand of architecture, along with inspiration taken from late Australian painter, Jeffrey Smart and much of the architecture showcased in the early 20th century at Germany’s Bauhaus.
Emma is currently mentored by fine art photographer, Katrin Koenning, and industrial photographer, Christian Pearson; both artists inspire Emma to capture fleeting moments in unique ways.
Emma has a passion for people-watching, playing with ambient light and the dynamic between people, inanimate objects, and the modern urbanscapes they inhabit. Much of her work explores the existential notion of isolation of the individual in an indifferent world.
