A Journey Through Time

The Australian suburban backyard seems a thing of the past, as research has determined that this has been on the decline over the years. For me the backyard is filled with the emotions I felt as a child whilst playing and exploring within its confines. This project documents my current backyard as a place that I sadly no longer interact with. I have become one of the many people who use technology and stays indoors all day. Lately, I have seen the effect this has had on me, as I reflect on my childhood and how much I truly enjoyed being outdoors. This exploration has taken me on a journey of self-discovery, nostalgia, emotions and memories connected with my idea of home. It has also allowed me to rediscover my current backyard whilst exploring the nature of this very personal sacred space.
