Shamima Islam was born in Bangladesh and moved to Australia with her husband in 2002. Her passion for photography developed as a kind of self-discovery. Inspired by the creative works of Annie Leibovitz, Bruno Aveillan, Erik Almas, Richard Avedon, Mario Testino and Tim Walker, Shamima believes that a good image emotionally engages the viewer to explore a visual story. A good image enables the viewer to see a series of unseen events through the captured moment. Soaking a visual experience into her imagination, Shamima loves to create a greater reality.
Shamima’s greatest talent lies on her awareness of what she wants to see in the picture. Her quiet, soft and romantic personality is reflected in her image creation. She loves to create a quiet sense of beauty, grandeur and motion. As a visual storyteller, Shamima has also started shooting videos with her DSLR camera to make her photography more cinematic.
